Following the resignation of Gareth Ward, residents in the north of the Shoalhaven will soon be called upon to vote at a by-election for the seat of Kiama.
Residents in Cambewarra, Bomaderry, Berry, Kangaroo Valley, Shoalhaven Heads and parts of Nowra and South Nowra, make up the electoral district.
Mayor Patricia White said that local communities deserve strong representation in the NSW State Parliament and is looking forward to learning who will run for election.
"The northern Shoalhaven is a scenic and beautiful place with diverse communities who have shared experiences of isolation caused by natural disasters and have ongoing concerns relating to hospitals, transport and roads that require the focus of the NSW Government," Cr White said.
"I welcome any candidate that the community elects and look forward to working with them to achieve what's needed for the people of the Shoalhaven," she said.
Once the by-election date is determined, Council will provide information to the community on local polling stations and any pre-election activities that voters need to be across.
