Flood‑impacted homeowners in the Central West have been given more time to plan and complete critical home upgrades, following an extension to the NSW Government's Resilient Homes Program (RHP).
The NSW Reconstruction Authority (RA) announced the revised timelines to better reflect the realities faced by homeowners navigating quotes, approvals and construction timeframes.
Under the updated schedule, eligible homeowners can now submit their scope of works until June 2027, an extension from the previous June 2026 deadline. Timeframes to complete grant-funded resilient measures have also been extended, with works now able to be finalised by December 2028, instead of March 2027.
The program, which supports flood‑affected residents to raise, retrofit or improve the resilience of their homes, remains closed to new applicants, with the extension applying only to those already approved.
The Reconstruction Authority acknowledged that progressing works under the program can take time, particularly as homeowners work through Home Assessment Reports, seek builder quotes, secure approvals and coordinate construction schedules.
All current applicants will be contacted directly and advised of the updated timelines, providing greater certainty and flexibility to move projects forward.
Support Services Continue Across the Region
Alongside the extended deadlines, the Reconstruction Authority is continuing to provide a range of support services to help homeowners progress their projects.
This includes access to local offices, one-on-one concierge support, and a series of Industry Connect events designed to link residents with builders and construction professionals.
In Eugowra, support is available in person each Tuesday from 10am to 3pm at the Rural Transaction Centre office located at 45 Broad Street.
A local Industry Connect event will also be held at the Eugowra Community Hub on Tuesday, 16 June from 4pm to 6pm, giving residents the opportunity to drop in and speak directly with industry representatives and support staff.
The event will allow homeowners to:
- Discuss their Resilient Homes Program application and Home Assessment Report
- Explore retrofitting options and suitable building materials
- Connect with local builders and trades
- Speak with council staff about development approval processes
Encouraging Progress on Recovery Efforts
The extension is expected to ease pressure on homeowners still working through complex rebuild or retrofit decisions following major flood events.
By providing additional time for planning and delivery, the updated timelines aim to ensure more residents can fully access the support available and complete works to a high standard.
