Road maintenance, bushfire management and prevention, traffic, provision of street trees and Council rates were the top important issues identified by residents in this year's survey.

Each February, a survey is conducted throughout Nillumbik to measure community satisfaction with Council services, facilities and activities. The survey is managed by an independent third party, Metropolis Research.

Surveyors doorknock houses throughout the Shire and conduct a number of phone interviews in hard-to-access rural areas. Standout areas in this year's survey included customer service, environmental programs and facilities, and support for local businesses, which all recorded increased levels of satisfaction.

Comments around the top area of concern – road maintenance and repair – applied to both Council and VicRoads-managed roads. Roads, footpaths and traffic are key focus areas for Council.
