Retail Trade Record

Peter Gutwein,Premier & Treasurer

The latest retail trade data shows Tasmania reaching record highs, with retail turnover hitting $579.3 million in the month of December 2019 in trend terms, a new monthly record.

Tasmania's annual increase in retail trade in December was not only the highest in the country at 6.4 percent, but more than double the national average growth of 2.8 per cent. Our state also saw the highest monthly growth in December.

With our economy the fastest growing in the country and 20,000 jobs created since we first came to office, we know our Plan is working.

The Tasmanian Liberal Government will continue to deliver on our commitment to grow the economy and create more jobs to ensure that all Tasmanians have the opportunity to share in the benefits that come from our strong economic growth.
