Rezoning Fast-Tracked for More Housing

The Tasmanian Government is making it easier to build homes, faster.

Representatives from the Tasmanian and local Governments will meet on 30 March to explore fast-track rezoning for housing in nominated growth areas.

Minister for Housing and Planning, Kerry Vincent, said with the right policies in place, we can deliver more homes where they're needed, sooner.

"At the 2025 election we made it clear that this is a priority for our Government," Minister Vincent said.

"We're bringing councils together from across the State to work together on options for fast-track housing delivery in priority areas."

With Housing Land Supply Orders allowing the Minister to rezone much needed Government land for housing, it's time to consider options right around the state to ensure the zoning is right in priority areas.

"I want to see Tasmania's planning system working efficiently for those who need it most," Minister Vincent said.
