West Wyalong will welcome a group of dedicated riders from the Long Ride Australia on Sunday 12 October as they continue their journey across Australia to raise vital funds and awareness for prostate cancer.

The riders, who come from all corners of the country, will be arriving in town on Sunday afternoon and enjoying dinner at Tatts Hotel and the community is warmly invited to come along, say hello and hear about their incredible cause.

The following morning, Monday 13 October, a community BBQ breakfast will be held from 7.30am to 8.30am at McCann Park.

  • Cost: $5 (cash only)
  • All proceeds will be donated directly to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia, with an estimated 26,368 men likely to be diagnosed this year. While survival rates have improved to 95.8%, sadly over 3,901 men lose their lives to the disease annually.

Bland Shire Council Mayor Brian Monaghan said the event was a great opportunity for the community to show their support.

"These riders are making a real difference by raising funds and awareness for a cause that touches so many families. I encourage everyone to come down, enjoy breakfast and get behind them."
