River Lights PS Pyap Mechanical Issue

River Lights

Swan Hill Rural City Council and the Pioneer Settlement wish to advise that on the evening of Thursday 17 July, an unexpected mechanical issue occurred with the Paddle Steamer PS Pyap during a River Lights cruise.

The incident prompted a coordinated response, with support from emergency services including Victoria Police and the SES, who worked closely alongside Council and Pioneer Settlement staff to manage the situation safely and effectively.

This morning, customer service staff have begun - and will continue - personally contacting affected guests to arrange check-ins, enable access to the River Lights tonight and facilitate refunds, as needed.

It is anticipated that the PS Pyap will return to service on Saturday 19 July. Please keep on eye on our social media for further updates.

Swan Hill Rural City Council and the Pioneer Settlement extend their sincere thanks to all staff and emergency personnel involved for their professionalism, dedication and care in supporting the event and its visitors.

River Lights will continue as scheduled over the coming days, concluding on Sunday evening.
