Riverina Hwy Roadwork Advances Amid Albury Upgrade

NSW Gov

The Minns Labor Government will invest $3.5 million to resurface two key sections of the Riverina Highway in Albury providing a safer and smoother drive for residents.

Community feedback is now also being sought to help shape plans for further transport improvements at Albury.

Road resurfacing work will start on Sunday 23 November, on Hume Street from Wodonga Place to Macauley Street, and then on Borella Road from Young Street to Keene Street.

Around 34,000 square metres of existing road surface will be removed to a depth of 50mm before the new road surface is laid.

Work is expected to be completed by mid-December, weather permitting, ensuring all sections of the highway are operational for the end of year holiday traffic.

This road surfacing work will complement plans to improve traffic efficiency on Borella Road with plans progressing for the Riverina Highway Albury Corridor Upgrade.

The upgrade covers the entire corridor from the intersection of Young and Guinea streets to the west of the Hume Highway interchange, through to East Street.

Community feedback provided during Albury City Council's current consultation on the East Albury Precinct Plan will help shape plans for future transport improvements in Albury.

Transport for NSW is developing a comprehensive suite of intersection upgrade options along the Riverina Highway at Borella Road, in partnership with Albury City Council to ensure a strategic approach to transport planning for East Albury.

Following the feedback and detailed traffic modelling analysis, a preferred option and a Review of Environmental Factors (REF) will be presented to the community for further input.
