Gold Coast police would like to remind motorists of upcoming road closures due to the 2018 T20 Australia v South Africa cricket match at Carrara, Queensland Police say.
The event will be held tomorrow (Saturday November 17) with a sell-out crowd of more than 23,000 spectators expected to attend this year’s event.
Police have been working with event organisers and stakeholders to ensure the cricket match is conducted safely and with minimum disruption to traffic.
Motorists are advised that travelling in the vicinity of Metricon Stadium – specifically Nerang-Broadbeach Road – at Carrara during this event may results in delays due to the diversions that will be in place.
Police encourage all patrons attending the cricket match to utilize free transport that is incorporated in the ticket price.
Police also remind all patrons attending the inaugural cricket match that it is offence to enter the field of play.
Major Events Group Inspector Mat Rosevear warns: “police take the matter very seriously and if someone enters the field of play they can expect to be charged with penalties exceeding $10,500”.
Please expect delays and traffic congestion from 4.30pm to 10.30pm at the following Carrara locations:
– Road closure at Alabaster Drive, between Plateau Crescent and Nerang-Broadbeach Road
– Traffic management the intersection of Chisholm Road and Nerang-Broadbeach Road
– Traffic management of U-turn facility at Nerang-Broadbeach Road
