Corangamite Shire Council has delivered 100% of the road rehabilitation and footpath construction projects on its 2025-2026 Capital Works Program.
Director Works and Services Shaun Broadbent said: "These projects have been completed before Easter which is well before the anticipated completion date of end of April and prior to the upcoming winter rains.
"Of nine road projects totalling 7.7 km, three were strategic road widenings with major upgrades and three were in-town projects that required working around existing infrastructure such as kerb and channel and underground services."
"Council Works crew and the team went above and beyond to overcome every challenge required to achieve this great milestone prior to their delivery timeframes.
"This display of productivity enabled Council to minimise the impact of recent cost escalations of oil-based products to its roads and footpaths project budgets."
Council also delivered 750 m of footpaths and multiple accessible crossing and parking improvements across the Shire and contractors completed a major culvert replacement on Nareen Road, Cooriemungle.
