Rock thrown at police car, NSW

Police have arrested a man after a police car was hit by a rock thrown from a moving vehicle on the Central Coast, NSW Police say.

Just before 11pm on Saturday 4 February 2017, a fully marked police vehicle was travelling along Anita Avenue, Lake Munmorah, when it passed a Mazda 6 travelling in the opposite direction.

It is alleged a large rock was thrown from the Mazda, hitting the police car, before the Mazda sped from the scene.

Police conducted a u-turn but lost sight of the vehicle. They attended a home at Gwandalan a short time later, arresting a 25-year-old man.

He was taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with drive while suspended, destroy or damage property, and intentionally throw object at vehicle.

He was refused bail to appear at Wyong Local Court tomorrow.
