Flood water levels in the Fitzroy River are falling following a minor flood peak near 7.25 metres and will continue to recede over the coming days.
The community is urged to avoid entering, playing or swimming in flood waters as there could be large, loose debris, strong currents and dangerous animals swimming.
Council, with the assistance of the Queensland Fire Department and SES, is assessing the extent of impact and clean up required.
The community is encouraged to protect themselves against Melioidosis by avoiding contact with mud, wearing protective footwear, gloves, masks and covering open wounds.
