Following the latest forecast from the Bureau of Meteorology, the Rockhampton Local Disaster Management Group is now preparing for a 7.5 metre peak to hit Wednesday morning.
The Fitzroy River in Rockhampton is now expected to rise to 7 metres today and peak at a minor to moderate level Wednesday.
While the updated predictions suggest less severe impacts than earlier modelling, residents in low-lying areas are still urged to review the latest information and flood maps and take necessary steps to prepare.
The next update from the BOM will be 6pm today, Monday 19 January.
