  • The Crisafulli Government delivers $200,000 boost to Walk 'n' Talk Rockhampton to create a hub for men's mental health support services.
  • Office of Social Impact continues to deliver the biggest transformation of social impacting investment in Queensland's history.
  • The funding reflects the Crisafulli Government's commitment to improving mental health outcomes across regional Queensland.

The Crisafulli Government is delivering better health services for Queenslanders, supporting the establishment of a new men's mental health hub in regional Queensland.

Walk 'n' Talk Rockhampton has received $200,000 from Queensland Treasury's Office of Social Impact to build a facility for men to connect, talk openly and support each other's mental health.

The Office of Social Impact supports businesses that deliver purpose beyond profit, aiming to create real community benefits, including more job opportunities, better services and healthier lives.

Treasurer David Janetzki said the investment reflects the Crisafulli Government's commitment to improving mental health outcomes across regional Queensland.

"Too many men, particularly in regional areas, feel they have to face challenges on their own," Treasurer Janetzki said.

"Walk 'n' Talk is exactly the kind of grassroots initiative that makes a real difference meeting people where they are and providing practical, community driven support.

"This is another example of the power the Office of Social Impact has to bring transformative change to the for-purpose sector and allow for improved social services for Queenslanders."

Member for Rockhampton Donna Kirkland welcomed funding highlighting the importance of accessible mental health services in the region.

"In regional Queensland, distance and isolation can make it harder to reach out. Walk 'n' Talk will provide a place where men can share their experiences, and build stronger support networks," Ms Kirkland said.

"After a decade of neglect under the former Labor Government, we're backing practical solutions that make a real difference for regional Queenslanders."

Walk 'n' Talk co-founder Chris Bennett said the initiative was created to provide men with a safe space to speak openly, free from judgement, and to remind them they are not alone.

"We see every day how something as simple as a walk and an honest conversation can change someone's perspective and give them the confidence to ask for help," Mr Bennett said.

"Support from the Crisafulli Government means we can reach more people, strengthen families and create safer, more connected communities across Rockhampton and Central Queensland."
