The walls of the Western Plains Cultural Centre are set to be transformed into a showcase of the finest emerging visual arts talent from New South Wales (NSW) high schools when ARTEXPRESS returns next month.
Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Josh Black and NSW Department of Education's Marianne Powles will officially open the exhibition on Saturday 15 August at 6pm. Tickets are free and can be booked via 123tix.
Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Josh Black said the works were outstanding.
"This exhibition celebrates hard work and the best of what our young people are capable of," Clr Black said.
"Anyone who's ever stood in front of a classroom knows just how much we ask of young people.
"These students have taken on a full academic load and still found the time and creativity to produce original artworks that not only met the NSW HSC Visual Arts syllabus but stood out among a large field of submissions," Clr Black said.
ARTEXPRESS showcases selected works from a large number of HSC submissions, representing the most outstanding examples of student achievement in visual arts.
Each body of work has been imagined and completed by the student under the supervision of their Visual Arts teacher, a collaboration between passionate educators and their young artists.
Western Plains Cultural Centre is proud to be one of the select galleries in NSW to display ARTEXPRESS this year.
"We're thrilled to have this ARTEXPRESS exhibition here. It showcases a range of visual expression and offers a glimpse into the creativity and passion of the next generation of Australian artists," Dubbo Regional Council Curator, Natasha Lunniss said.
"I encourage students, teachers and members of the public to come and experience this exhibition; it's an inspiring showcase of emerging creative talent," Ms Lunniss said.
ARTEXPRESS is a joint partnership between the NSW Education Standards Authority and the NSW Department of Education.
The exhibition will run at the Western Plains Cultural Centre until 4 October 2026.
