Rodent Issues at Wollongong's Crown St Mall Parklet

Wollongong City Council is aware of recent rodent activity at the Crown Street Mall Parklet, located at the Keira Street end of the Mall.

The parklet is a public green space, built with artificial grass and planter boxes, and is a popular space used by Mall visitors to relax, eat and connect.

Recently Council has been made aware of individuals feeding pigeons in the Mall. This has attracted the rodents, despite Council's efforts to remove the food scraps through our regular cleaning schedule.

We have now engaged a rodent removal specialist. Their methods are not dangerous or harmful, and the parklet remains open for people to use.

Signage is being installed at the parklet to remind visitors to not feed the pigeons, to leave the parklet clean, and to take and dispose of rubbish at the nearby public bins.
