On 20 December 2022, a round table was held in Strasbourg to examine the Human Rights situation in the occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, Ukraine.
It gathered representatives of civil society from Ukraine, including the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Tamila Tasheva, the Head of the Crimea Platform Department at the Mission of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, members of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsperson) of Ukraine, representatives of Crimean Tatars (Mejlis of Crimean Tatar People) as well as representatives of prominent NGOs.
The event provided an opportunity for an exchange of views on the human rights situation in Crimea in the aftermath of the Russian armed aggression. It is a part of the consultation process aimed at preparing a second report for the Council of Europe's Secretary General (the first report was published on 4 May 2022). The reports aim to provide the Committee of Ministers with a basis for assessing the situation and deciding on what potential measures to take.
