Australia's 2025 Top Tourism Town, Fremantle, is throwing open the doors to creative businesses, entrepreneurs and unique operators ready to help transform some of the city's most iconic public spaces into must-visit summer destinations.
Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for the recently expanded Seasonal and Temporary Trading Program are now open.
The program offers approved traders the opportunity to operate from one of nine designated locations across Fremantle from 1 November 2026 to 30 April 2027, bringing new experiences, unique food offerings and leisure-focused activities to residents and visitors alike.
The Seasonal Trading Program is designed to enhance Fremantle's vibrant streets, parks and coastal locations while complementing existing local businesses.
Applications will be assessed against a set of guiding principles that prioritise sustainability, innovation and experiences and align with Fremantle's distinctive brand values of spirit, soul and sea.
The City is looking for traders and mobile food vendors to activate a selection of spectacular coastal locations, as well as the newly included park locations of Booyeembara Park Mountain Bike Trail, Samson Park, Gilbert Fraser Reserve and Esplanade Park.
Fremantle Mayor Ben Lawver said the program created exciting opportunities for emerging businesses while enhancing the city's renowned visitor experience.
"Fremantle is known for its unique character, beautiful public spaces and thriving small business community. Our Seasonal Trading Program gives entrepreneurs the opportunity to test new ideas and create memorable experiences that add to everything people already love about our city."
Mayor Lawver said the City was seeking proposals that would activate public spaces in a way that complemented the local economy.
"We're looking for businesses that offer something distinctive, sustainable and high quality-whether that's unique food, recreation or innovative visitor experiences. The aim is to activate our public spaces while supporting the vibrancy of Fremantle and ensuring existing businesses continue to thrive."
The City is particularly encouraging applications from businesses that:
- are self-sufficient in power, water and waste management;
- focus on leisure and recreation activities or unique food offerings;
- fill a gap in the local market and enhance the visitor experience;
- reflect Fremantle's distinctive coastal identity and brand values; and
- do not duplicate the offerings of existing businesses nearby
Prospective applicants are encouraged to review the Seasonal and Temporary Trading Guidelines before submitting an application. The documentation includes information about the available trading locations, assessment criteria and application requirements.
Expressions of Interest close at 11.59pm on Tuesday, 1 September 2026, with successful applicants to be notified in October.
