Royal Australian Navy Band performs at local College

On Monday 21 June, the Royal Australian Navy Band visited Catholic Regional College Caroline Springs to perform for their Year 7 students. They Navy Band played a range of music from Jazz through to Rock. They also demonstrated the instruments which are now available through the College’s new instrumental music program, including flute, clarinet, alto and tenor saxophone, trumpet, trombone and percussion.

Catholic Regional College Caroline Springs is grateful for the support and encouragement the Royal Australian Navy Band has provided for their students, as they launch for the very first time a Concert Band Program and instrumental lessons. Dr Chris McGillen lead the launched of this project as the new Head of Music Performance at the College. He found that there were no such programs offered within a 15km radius of the school, and strongly believed it was important to provide this opportunity for the local students.

The Navy Band has not performed in our local region for some time, so it was an exciting event and milestone, not only for the College, but the Western region!
