Run in with the law

Two teenagers committed the "car-dinal" offence of crashing into a police divisional van, and it was in an allegedly stolen car, Victoria Police say.

Investigators believe the Nissan Patrol was allegedly stolen in the early hours of 20 November during an aggravated burglary in Narre Warren South.

The following night police were conducting routine patrols in Raven Crescent, Narre Warren when the Nissan allegedly lost control before colliding with the marked police vehicle about 9.20pm.

The police members were uninjured but were unable to follow the vehicle due to the damage to their own.

The Nissan was located shortly afterwards in Monaro Drive after it collided with a tree.

Two teenagers were arrested the following day and where uninjured.

A 14-year-old Narre Warren boy has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, reckless conduct endangering serious injury and unlicensed driving.

A 16-year-old Berwick boy has been charged with theft of motor vehicle and commit offences whilst on bail.

Both teenagers have been released to a court at a later date.
