The Run My Way Grant Program will provide grants to running organisations across NSW to deliver innovative programs and initiatives that help participants feel safer, more confident and more connected when running in their communities.
The program responds to research commissioned by the Minns Labor Government into women's running habits, which found:
• 95 per cent of women say their sense of safety influences when and how they run;
• 70 per cent have felt unsafe while running; and
• 50 per cent have experienced harassment while out on a run.
Grants of between $5,000 and $100,000 are available to incorporated running organisations, associations, sole traders and clubs in NSW that organise recreational, social, fitness or competitive running activities. Applicants can submit up to two applications, with a maximum grant amount of $100,000.
The Run My Way Grant Program is part of Transport for NSW's $1.3 million multi-year partnership with the NSW Office of Sport under the Safer Cities Program, reflecting the Minns Labor Government's commitment to making communities safer and removing barriers to participation in sport and physical activity.
