The facility provides assessments, group and individual counseling, medication management and case management
Since April 2025, the Rutgers Center for Recovery & Wellbeing (RCRW), located in the heart of Plainfield, has been steadily offering outpatient (OP) services to adults seeking recovery from substance use and co-occurring behavioral health conditions. OP care provides flexible, scheduled treatment for individuals stable enough to manage recovery while living at home, including individual therapy, group sessions, medication management, and recovery planning.
With the full continuum of care available under one roof, Rutgers Center for Recovery & Wellbeing is one of the most comprehensive addiction treatment resources in the region.

In the coming weeks, RCRW will also launch intensive outpatient (IOP) services-ideal for those needing more structured support without residential care. IOP includes up to 9 hours per week of therapy, group sessions, and enhanced therapeutic engagement, helping participants build momentum in recovery while managing other daily responsibilities.
"We believe hope and recovery are not only possible-they're happening right here in Plainfield," said Jorge Santamaria, senior marketing and communications coordinator, Rutgers UBHC, Addiction Services. "We're helping people reclaim their lives with dignity, in a space that's judgment-free, healing-centered, and grounded in proven clinical care."
There's more on the horizon: inpatient services-short-term inpatient treatment and withdrawal management-are expected to open later this summer or by early fall.
"With the full continuum of care available under one roof, Rutgers Center for Recovery & Wellbeing is one of the most comprehensive addiction treatment resources in the region," said Josephine Schettino, program director of the Rutgers Center for Recovery and Wellbeing.
To support its expansion, RCRW is planning a community job fair this August and a public Open House later this summer to welcome families, neighbors and local stakeholders to tour the facility and learn more about available services.
