SA Ambos Providing Best Patient Care in Nation

The Marshall Liberal Government congratulates the South Australian Ambulance Service on the results of a new survey which reveals they are the nation's best in regards to patient satisfaction.

The Council of Ambulance Authorities survey, released today, shows South Australia patients were also the among the most satisfied with the timeliness of their ambulance.

Minister for Health and Wellbeing Stephen Wade said the results reflect the high-level of care that SAAS provides to South Australians.

"Our paramedic and ambulance staff are the most committed to patient care in the nation and it is not surprising to see the results reflect their dedication to providing the best service possible," Minister Wade said.

"I congratulate them on these results and for their ongoing commitment to helping build a better health system for all South Australians."

SAAS reported the highest satisfaction rate in the nation (89 per cent) with an impressive 99 per cent of patients rating the level of care provided by SAAS staff as "good" or "very good."

South Australia patients were also among the most satisfied with the timeliness of the ambulance.

More than 60 percent indicated their ambulance had arrived quicker than they expected it would.

Just six percent said they expected the ambulance to arrive quicker than it did (the second best in the nation).

Last year, the State Government strengthened the service's ability to provide excellent patient care by appointing more than 150 paramedics and ambulance officers.

The Marshall Liberal Government also invested $3.6m for SAAS to expand its volunteer training program so more South Australian volunteers can join the service - faster and more easily.
