WWF-Australia is pleased to announce Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, Governor General of Australia, as its new patron.

With her record of support for climate science, environment and caring for communities, the Governor-General has deep experience working with community organisations for a fair and just world.

"We are absolutely delighted to welcome the Governor-General as our Patron. Her sustainability leadership, support for climate and role now as Governor-General, makes her a unique champion for nature, environment and communities," said WWF-Australia President Judy Slatyer.

"We look forward to working with the Governor-General and drawing on her experience as we work towards WWF's goal to Regenerate Nature by 2030."

Dermot O'Gorman, CEO of WWF-Australia said: "Having had the privilege to serve on the ACFID Board when the Hon Sam Mostyn was President, I know firsthand her passionate commitment to caring for both people and planet.

"This commitment puts her in a unique position to support WWF's vital work – from empowering the Indigenous Women Rangers Environment Network to working on nature-based solutions partnerships with local communities across the Asia Pacific – as we move towards our 50th anniversary in 2028."

The Governor-General said: "I have put care – in all its forms, including care for our environment and nature – at the centre of my term as Governor-General so I am delighted to follow my predecessors including General Hurley in becoming Patron of WWF-Australia."

"I look forward to working again with Judy Slatyer, Dermot O'Gorman and the wonderful WWF team, as it strives to regenerate nature and deliver positive outcomes for our wildlife, communities and climate."
