The works schedule for a package of six roads being upgraded in the Shoalhaven under a $40 million commitment from the Australian Government is now available for the community to view.
With the design phase nearing completion, the delivery schedule outlines the scope of works to be undertaken and provides the proposed start and end dates for each road. Works are expected to be completed by early 2028, weather permitting.
Mayor Patricia White said a lot of complex investigation work including safety analysis, road condition analysis, concept sketches, cost estimates, design and flood modelling had been carried out since Council received the first instalment of funding in October 2024.
"We're excited to move into this next phase of the project and provide this level of detail to the community," Cr White said.
"This is a mammoth program of works and crews will spend the next 24 months upgrading these key roads with a range of improvements including pavement reconstruction, widening, signage, line marking, guardrail and intersection upgrades," she said.
Federal Member for Gilmore Fiona Phillips said she was pleased to see the Albanese Labor Government's $40 million funding commitment taking shape.
"I was proud to deliver the funding in the 2022 federal budget and it's fantastic to see these important projects moving from planning to delivery," Mrs Phillips said.
"These are long-awaited road works that will improve safety and connectivity for residents, local businesses, and everyone who relies on these key transport links," she said.
"This investment delivers real improvements for our region, ensuring more reliable roads for the community for decades to come."
