  • $1.07 million awarded through latest round of funding
  • Cook Government delivering quality infrastructure and services across WA

More than $4 million has now been invested through the Cook Government's Community Use of School Sporting Facilities (CUSSF) program, supporting schools to share access to their sporting infrastructure with local community clubs across Western Australia.

Since launching in February 2025, the program has supported 111 schools and 116 community sporting groups, delivering more than $4 million in funding to upgrade facilities, improve equipment and make school sporting infrastructure more accessible to local communities.

These grants support practical upgrades such as equipment purchases, improvements to playing surfaces and minor infrastructure works, ensuring school sporting facilities can be safely and effectively shared with community sporting groups.

In Round 4 of the program, $1,078,714 has been awarded to support 23 public schools partnering with 28 local sporting clubs across the State to improve shared facilities and equipment.

The $10 million program, jointly delivered by the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport and the Department of Education, encourages stronger partnerships between schools and local sporting groups to make better use of existing infrastructure including ovals, courts and sports halls.

The initiative forms part of PlayOn WA: 2030, the Cook Government's long-term strategy to guide investment in community sport and recreation infrastructure across Western Australia.

Round 4 projects include a wide range of improvements such as upgrades to oval and hardcourt playing surfaces, new goal systems and storage facilities, CCTV installations and minor infrastructure works to improve community access to school sporting spaces.

By supporting the shared use of school facilities, the program helps maximise existing infrastructure while creating more opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to participate in community sport.
