Science North looks to expand its operations in Northwestern Ontario

Science North, Canada's second largest science centre, has helped to shape the tourism landscape in Northern Ontario for more than 35 years by combining quality science education and entertainment experiences. In addition to its science exhibits, this premier tourism destination features an IMAX theatre, planetarium, butterfly gallery and Dynamic Earth: home of the Big Nickel.

As part of a visit to Thunder Bay's annual science festival, the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Health, and Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay-Superior North, announced a FedNor investment of $100,000 in Science North. The funding will enable the Sudbury-based organization to study the feasibility of establishing a permanent presence in Northwestern Ontario. This announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages.
