Scout and community groups across the state can look forward to new and improved Scout halls as they begin to safely return to face to face activities.
Minister for Youth Ros Spence announced today that a further eight Scout halls will be built or upgraded as part of the Andrews Labor Government's $5.5 million four-year investment into Scouts infrastructure.
The upgrades will modernise the facilities and make them more accessible, giving Scout and local community groups a contemporary home to grow and thrive.
The new projects announced today are:
- Construction of the new Pakenham Lakeside Scout Hall
- Upgrading the 1st Avoca Scout Hall
- Upgrading the 1st Baranduda Scout Hall
- Upgrading the 4th Caulfield Scout Hall
- Upgrading the 1st Cranbourne Scout Hall
- Upgrading the 10th Ivanhoe Scout Hall
- Upgrading the 1st Koo Wee Rup Scout Hall
- Upgrading the 1st Bayswater Scout Hall.
This announcement builds on the 11 Scout hall projects already announced as part of the Labor Government's 2018 election commitment to build and refurbish Scout halls across the state.
Local Scout groups will match funding for each project by working with Scouts Victoria and community partners, bringing the total investment to $11 million.
Scouts have a long and rich history in communities across Victoria - giving young people the opportunity to be part of a worldwide network to learn important life and leadership skills.
Scouts Victoria was established in 1908 and has a membership base of over 20,000 young people and 5,000 adult volunteers across Victoria.
