ScrapMart Facilities closing to protect Snowy Monaro waste services

ScrapMart facilities closed at the Cooma and Jindabyne Landfills from Thursday 6 January 2022 in order to ensure that delivery of essential waste services across the region are not affected by COVID-19 exposure and increasing case numbers in the region.

The closure of these facilities is a necessary precaution to protect our community, employees and safeguard our region's critical services in the face of exponentially high COVID-19 case numbers across the state in the holiday period where people are travelling to tourism destinations such as ours.

"As an essential service, it is critically important that we take all possible steps to protect these employees and prevent any interruption to waste services in our region," said CEO Peter Bascomb, Snowy Monaro Regional Council.

Council would like to thank the community for their understanding and patience as we enter the third year of the pandemic.

Restrictions and closures are frustrating for us all, but maintaining delivery of essential services and protecting the community as much as possible from exposure to COVID-19 remains our highest priority.

We will make a further announcement when our much-loved ScrapMarts are ready to reopen to the public.
