Former DOJ Official Austin Evers Joins Ashurst's Litigation Practice

WASHINGTON (October 28, 2026)—Ashurst Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that Austin Evers has joined the firm as a partner in its Complex Litigation practice within the Litigation, Investigations & Advisory division. He is based in Washington, D.C.

Drawing on more than 15 years of experience in government and private practice, Austin advises on investigations and crisis management with a focus on congressional inquiries, government investigations, political-risk counseling, and other high-profile matters. He was previously a partner at a global law firm where he was co-chair of its congressional investigations practice.

Prior to moving to private practice, Austin served as associate deputy attorney general at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), where he counseled senior officials, including the attorney general and deputy attorney general, on all aspects of congressional investigations and risk management. He also formerly served at the U.S. Department of Defense as special counsel and the U.S. Department of State as senior counsel.

"Austin has navigated crises combining legal, political, and reputational risk both from inside the Justice Department and for clients in private practice," said Shari Brandt and Julia Markley, Complex Litigation (U.S.) practice co-chairs at Ashurst Perkins Coie. "His experience guiding major corporations and senior government officials through challenging and sensitive investigations will bring immediate benefit to our clients, our team and our growing practice."

"With its extensive roster of technology clients and globally backed resources, Ashurst Perkins Coie is an ideal platform for me to help build a practice centered on strategic responses to investigations by federal and state agencies," said Austin. "I'm not only looking forward to working alongside the firm's former government lawyers, whose experience is so valuable for clients facing congressional scrutiny, but with its top talent from around the world."

Austin's move to the firm continues this year's growth within the Litigation, Investigations & Advisory division, which also added partners Prava Palacharla, Adam Severt, and Veronica Onyema, all formerly serving at the DOJ, and Chad Colton who joined from another firm.

Austin earned his Bachelor of Arts from Johns Hopkins University and his Juris Doctor degree from Boston College Law School.
