Scrub fires - Star Swamp Reserve

Arson Squad detectives are seeking information regarding 10 scrub fires at the Star Swamp Reserve in Watermans Bay that occurred between Wednesday 21 July and Wednesday 18 August 2021.

Dates and times are:

• 8.05pm on 21 July - area of North Beach Road and Hope Street

• 3.05am on 24 July – area of North Beach Road and Charles Riley Road

• 1.25pm on 26 July – area of Marion Ave and Beach Road

• 1.40pm on 28 July – area of North Beach Road and Marmion Ave

• 6.55am on 31 July – area of North Beach Road and Marmion Ave

• 12.30am on 2 August – area of Beach Road and Marmion Ave (near Wittington Ave

• 8.35pm on 2 August – area of North Beach Road and Charles Riley Road

• 2.25pm on 11 August – area of North Beach Road and Charles Riley Road

• 5.35am on 18 August – area of North Beach Road and Charles Riley Road

• 6.50am on 18 August – area of North Beach Road and Marmion Ave.

Although the fires have burnt small amounts of scrub, homes are nearby and families and buildings are put at risk with each fire.

Investigators urge anyone with CCTV, mobile phone or dash-cam vision of these fires or people in the area around the above times to upload the vision direct to them via:-

Rewards of up to $50,000 are available for information that leads to the identification and conviction of an arsonist.
