Search after skeletal remains found in Moree

An investigation is underway following the discovery of human skeletal remains in northern NSW.

Officers from New England Police District were called to the bank of the Mehi River, Moree, after skeletal remains were found about 11am yesterday (Tuesday 1 January 2019).

A crime scene was established at the location, and a co-ordinated search of the river and land began at 9am today (Wednesday 2 January 2019).

The remains have been sent for forensic examination.
