Search and rescue at Imbil

Police are currently co-ordinating a search and rescue operation for a man reported missing at an Imbil campsite, south of Gympie, this morning (Thursday May 12).

The 36-year-old man was last seen at approximately 11.30pm last night chasing his dog away from the Yabba Creek Road campsite.

He was reported missing at approximately 10am this morning after he failed to return or make contact with anyone.

The campsite is currently isolated from foot and road access due to several flooded river crossings.

As a result, the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Helicopter has been tasked with an aerial search as swift water rescue crews are assembled to gain safe access to the search area.

Police are urging any residents in the area to check their properties.

The man is described as approximately 170cm tall with a proportionate build with brown hair and beard.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
