Search and rescue operation for missing man, Penwhaupell

Queensland Police have launched a search and rescue operation for a missing 84-year-old Penwhaupell man and his two dogs.

David John Grimes was last seen at an address on Penwhaupell Road on Monday, July 25 at 1pm.

He is described as approximately 175cm tall, slight build, dark eyes with grey thinning hair.

Police and family believe David left his home to walk his two Jack Russell Terriers to an area known as Back Creek and failed to return that evening.

Concerns are held for David due to his age and medical conditions.

Police along with neighbours, family and friends conducted an immediate search the area utilising quadbikes, motor bikes and foot patrols.

A multi-agency operation involving police, QFES and SES, helicopter including Polair and Hervey Bay Water Police searching creeks along the boundary of the property has so far failed to locate David.

The search is expected to resume today with Dive Squad officers and SES volunteers.
