Search continues for missing man Ian Whinfield

Police will ramp up search efforts for missing Serpentine man Ian Whinfield today.

The 82-year-old was last seen by family after attending Christmas lunch in Lake Bolac on 25 December, 2019.

Police were notified on 26 December after Ian had not returned home after leaving Lake Bolac about 4pm on the previous day.

A search commenced and Ian's red Nissan ute was discovered on Emery Track, Glenpatrick on 27 December.

In the wake of an initial large-scale response, the search for Ian was wound back but has consistently continued.

Police will once again undertake a large-scale search of bushland in the Glenpatrick area with additional resources dedicated to finding Ian over the coming days.

The Search and Rescue Squad, Mounted Branch, SES volunteers, uniform members and detectives will assist with the search.

Police have released an image of Ian and his truck in the hope that someone may be able to provide more information on his whereabouts.

He was last seen wearing green slacks, a green shirt, cap and brown shoes.

Ian's disappearance is not being treated as suspicious.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen Ian or his vehicle between 25 and 27 December to contact Avoca Police Station on 03 5465 3300.
