Police are continuing to search for a driver who allegedly deliberately hit a police officer in Sydney's west yesterday.
Just after 3pm (Saturday 5 September 2020), officers attached to Quakers Hill Police Area Command were conducting a retail theft operation at a shopping centre on Sentry Drive, Stanhope Gardens, when they noticed a woman acting suspiciously and walking towards a Toyota sedan in the carpark.
When officers approached the woman, it's alleged she ran to the parked car and attempted to leave the carpark, before driving towards the officers.
Officers ran towards the exit and the woman allegedly drove at them, striking a senior constable and knocking him to the ground.
The car continued out of the carpark and was last seen travelling west on Sentry Drive.
The officer sustained leg and back injuries and was treated at the scene before being taken to Westmead Hospital. He has since been released.
A crime scene was established, and local detectives commenced an investigation, assisted by the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.
Following inquiries, a Toyota Aurion was located unattended on Lookout Circuit, Stanhope Gardens, about 10am today (Sunday 6 September 2020).
Police are continuing to search for the driver and appealing for public assistance to locate her.
She is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, aged in her 20s, of medium build with long brown hair.
The two male passengers are described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, aged between 30 and 40, and of medium builds.
Investigations are ongoing and police are still urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam vision and hasn't yet spoken to police to come forward.
