Search On for Man After Fall Into South Coast Waters

A multi-agency search will resume today after a man was last seen falling into the water on the state's South Coast yesterday.

About 6.40pm (Sunday 18 January 2026), emergency services were called to Mystery Bay Beach about 12km south of Narooma, following reports a man had fallen into the water.

Officers attached to South Coast Police District attended and were told a man – aged 23 – had fallen several metres off a cliff into the ocean and had not resurfaced.

Local police – with assistance from Marine Area Command, Marine Rescue NSW, SES and VRA – commenced a search of the nearby area; however, were unable to locate the man.

The search was suspended yesterday evening and will recommence this morning (Monday 19 January 2026).
