A multi-agency search is underway to locate a man missing in the Blue Mountains.
David Elliot, aged 71, was last seen about 5:30am yesterday (Monday 2 February 2026), in Dunphys Camp Ground, Megalong Valley, where he advised family he was going on a 30km bushwalk.
Officers attached to Blue Mountains Police Area Command were notified yesterday at 7:30pm when he failed to return, and an investigation commenced into his whereabouts.
NSW Police Rescue officers searched the area until 11:30pm yesterday.
Police and family hold concerns for his welfare due to the weather and rugged terrain.
David is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall, of medium build, and bald.
He was last seen wearing beige pants with a black or beige shirt, a beige-coloured floppy hat and glasses. David is an experienced bushwalker but was not appropriately dressed for the overnight weather conditions. He was reported to have a Personal Locator Beach (PLB), but this has not been activated.
The search resumed at 9:30am today and involves local police, assisted by Police Rescue, NSW SES and NSW RFS.
Anyone with information about David's whereabouts is urged to contact Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
