Search operation continues for missing helicopter at Anna Bay

A search operation is underway in the Port Stephens area after a helicopter is believed to have gone missing.

Police were advised of an aircraft fading off the radar about 6.30pm (Friday 6 September 2019), before a search operation was commenced in the vicinity of Anna Bay.

The search, coordinated by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, is being assisted by officers from the NSW Police Marine Area Command, Port Stephens-Hunter Police District, Westpac Rescue Helicopter, NSW Marine Rescue, and various aerial support.

The search operation is continuing, and emergency services are working to establish how many people were on board the helicopter.
