Search to resume for missing swimmer at Balmoral

A search will resume for a swimmer, who was reported missing from Balmoral Beach on Sydney’s Lower North Shore yesterday.

About 5pm (Monday 27 April 2020), a man was seen to enter the water at the northern end of Balmoral, near Carroll’s Lookout, and swim away from the beach.

About 6.30pm, the man’s clothing was located still on the beach and police were notified.

Officers from North Shore Police Area Command attended and with the assistance of the Marine Area Command and PolAir, conducted an extensive land and water search for the man.

Patrols were conducted overnight, and a co-ordinated search will resume this morning (Tuesday 28 April 2020).

It is unknown if the man may have returned to shore and failed to collect his belongings.

As inquiries continue, police are attempting to identify the man who is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his 30s or 40s, with an athletic build, short hair and who walked with a limp.

At the time, he was wearing a white t-shirt, blue and white stripped shorts, a black hat, and navy blue running shoes.
