Search underway after personal items found at Shoalhaven

A search is underway after personal possessions were found at a popular fishing spot in the Shoalhaven yesterday.

Officers attached to the South Coast Police District received a report about 8.20am yesterday (Monday 28 February 2022), after personal belongings of a 24-year-old man were found on rocks at Mermaid Inlet, Beecroft Peninsula.

Initial inquiries indicate the items belong to a man from Victoria, who police believe was fishing on the rocks the day prior (Sunday 27 February 2022).

A land and sea search will continue today (Tuesday 1 March 2022), with the assistance the Marine Rescue, SES and Surf Lifesaving NSW.

Inquiries are ongoing.
