Second Loftiest Powerball Up For Grabs

Australians are on the edge of their seats as Powerball gears up to offer an astounding $150 million in the upcoming Thursday draw, marking it as the second-largest jackpot in the nation's history. This record-setting prize emerges after no division one winners emerged in last night's draw, pushing the jackpot higher for the fifth week in a row.

This $150 million prize is the loftiest sum offered by any Australian lottery since October 2022, when Powerball set a historic high with a $160 million jackpot.

Despite no winners claiming the top prize in tonight's $100 million draw, over 3.4 million prizes totaling more than $71.1 million were won across divisions two to nine. This includes 15 division two winners, each securing $132,040.20, just one number short of the multimillion-dollar jackpot.

Anna Hobdell, a spokesperson for The Lott, anticipates a wave of excitement across Australia leading up to next week's colossal $150 million draw.

“It’s undeniable that the idea of winning a slice of the $150 million division one prize will captivate the minds of many Australians this week as anticipation and excitement builds,” she said.

“We expect a surge in lottery outlets and online as we approach Thursday night’s multi-million-dollar draw, with up to half of Australian adults expected to have an entry into the draw.

“To give an indication of the scale of excitement projected for the upcoming draw, the peak of sales for this week’s $100 million Powerball draw was at 5.46pm when Aussies grabbed 7,224 entries in a single minute.

“We’re often asked for our advice and our biggest tip to lottery players vying for a chance to win this life-changing prize is to get in early and don’t leave purchasing your entry until the last minute!”

With the upcoming draw, Hobdell muses on the possibility of crowning the biggest individual lottery winner in Australian history if a single player claims the entire $150 million.

“Could we crown our biggest individual lottery winner in Australian history on Thursday night if one player claims the entire $150 million Powerball prize? Only time will tell!” she says.
