Second man charged after fatal house fire - Elderslie

A second man has been charged after an investigation into a fatal house fire in Sydney's south-west in June.

Emergency services were called to Crank Place, Elderslie, about 11.40pm on Saturday 1 June 2019, following reports of a home invasion and a house fire.

Fire & Rescue NSW officers attended and after the blaze was extinguished, located the body of a 22-year-old man inside the home.

Camden Detectives, with the assistance of the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad and the Financial Crime Squad's Arson Unit, established Strike Force Cavenagh to investigate the fire and death of the man.

About 8am today (Monday 18 November 2019), a 19-year-old man attended Campbelltown Police Station where he was arrested and charged with destroy/damage property with intent to endanger life and destroy property in company use fire.

The 19-year-old man was given strict conditional bail to appear at Picton Local Court on Wednesday (11 December 2019).

He is the second man to be arrested under Strike Force Cavenagh. Investigations continue.
