Second man charged over armed robbery and theft of more than 200 pieces of furniture

A man will appear at court today charged over his alleged role in armed robbery, kidnapping and aggravated break-ins across Sydney's south west.

About 2pm on Friday 22 February 2019, a 33-year-old man was contacted via an online marketplace by a man offering to sell a new laptop. The men agreed to meet at an apartment on Dudley Street, Punchbowl.

About 5.30pm, two men allegedly held the 33-year-old man against his will, threatened him with a knife, and stole cash and his car keys.

Detectives from Campsie Police Area Command and St. George Police Area Command commenced an investigation into the alleged incident.

A 39-year-old man was charged for his alleged role in the incident on Thursday 15 August 2019 and remains before the courts.

About 11pm yesterday (Thursday 29 August 2019), officers from Leichhardt Police Area Command stopped a 40-year-old man on Parramatta Road, Camperdown.

The man was arrested and taken to Newtown Police Station where he was charged with armed robbery, aggravated take/detain in company, aggravated break and enter.

Police will allege that the man robbed the man at knifepoint in Punchbowl and was involved in an aggravated break and enter from a basement storage space in a unit complex on Willis Street, Wolli Creek, in July 2019, where over 200 pieces of furniture were stolen.

He was refused bail to appear at Newtown Local Court today (Friday 30 August 2019).

Investigations are continuing.
