Second Teen Charged in Melbourne Stabbing

Greater Dandenong Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a second teen following an assault and stabbing in Melbourne's south on Friday evening.

The 19-year-old was arrested by detectives on 14 June and taken to hospital under police guard. He has since been released and interviewed in relation to the incidents in Keysborough and Dingley Village.

The Bonbeach teen was charged with shop theft (x3), intentionally cause injury (x3), recklessly cause injury, common law assault (x2), assault in company (x2), assault by kicking (x2), theft and armed robbery.

He was remanded in custody to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.

The charges follow two incidents on 13 June:

• In the first incident two boys allegedly assaulted a man in a chemist at a shopping centre on Cheltenham Road in Keysborough, on 13 June about 4.55pm. The victim, a 70-year-old Dandenong North man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

• In the second incident a 16-year-old boy was waiting at a bus stop in Centre Dandenong Road in Dingley Village when he was allegedly approached by what is believed to be the same two boys about 7.15pm. The Dingley Village teenager was then stabbed in what is alleged to have been an unprovoked attack. The boy was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

A 16-year-old teen from the Kingston area was interviewed and charged in relation to the incidents in Keysborough and Dingley Village, after he handed himself into police on Saturday 14 June.

The Kingston teen was charged with armed robbery, two counts each of intentionally cause injury and theft from shop, theft and common law assault.

He was remanded in custody to appear before a children's court.
