Second woman charged with affray at Wollongong

A second woman has been charged with affray following an altercation at a Wollongong hotel last weekend.

About 10.30pm on Sunday 12 June 2022, a group of women were on the dance floor of a hotel on Keira Street, when they were involved in a physical altercation.

Police, who were already at the premises for an unrelated matter, were notified and spoke to the women involved.

A 30-year-old woman suffered a laceration to the back of her head and later sought treatment at Wollongong Hospital.

Following inquiries and a review of CCTV, a 24-year-old policing student was charged. She remains before the courts.

Following further inquiries, a 22-year-old woman was issued a court attendance notice today (Sunday 19 June 2022), for affray.

Police will allege in court that during the altercation, the woman punched a second woman multiple times to the head.

She is due to appear at Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday 2 August 2022.

Inquiries continue.
