Secretary General Stresses Council of Europe's Anti-Racism Pledge at Antalya Forum

Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić has highlighted the Organisation's commitment to combating all forms of racism and discrimination, including anti-Muslim racism and hatred, while addressing the 3rd edition of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Türkiye.

Taking the floor during the Panel on "Rising Racism, Xenophobia and Islamophobia", the Secretary General underlined the relevance of the Council of Europe's conventions and policies as essential tools to ensure respect for human rights, freedoms, diversity, and equality.

The Forum gathers heads of states and governments, ministers, diplomats, business leaders, academics, think-tankers, and youth and media representatives for an all-encompassing debate. A full programme of bilateral meetings was also on Secretary General's agenda.

Deputy Secretary General Bjørn Berge will take part tomorrow, Saturday 2 March, in the Panel discussion "What Role for Regional Mechanisms" and will also hold bilateral meetings.
