Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo met today with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in Warsaw, Poland, where he is honoring the centennial of the Battle of Warsaw. Secretary Pompeo and Prime Minister Morawiecki discussed areas of strong U.S.-Poland cooperation, including our defense ties, the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement, and our support for the people of Belarus. They also discussed recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, securing 5G networks, and improving regional energy and infrastructure through the Three Seas Initiative. The Secretary and the Prime Minister also discussed a new draft bilateral agreement to cooperate in the development of Poland’s civil nuclear power program, which both countries initialed this week.
