Securing health services for Campbell Town

Jeremy Rockliff, Minister for Health

Residents of Campbell Town will have continued access to healthcare with a temporary agreement now in place with Ochre Health.

From early January, Ochre Health will provide medical services to and support the ongoing operations of the Campbell Town Health and Community Service seven days a week, and include residential aged care, sub-acute hospital patients, and emergency presentations.

This is a temporary arrangement to ensure there are medical services available for the facility at Campbell Town, while Ochre Health considers the possibility of establishing a private general practice at Campbell Town.

Premier and Minister for Health, Jeremy Rockliff, said the Tasmanian Government was working towards the continuation of the current model of care which sees the local GP supporting the Campbell Town Health and Community Service.

"We continue to work proactively and collaborate with the Federal Government to come up with a solution,'' he said.

"We would like to thank Ochre Health for agreeing to provide medical services to the Campbell Town Health and Community Service on a temporary basis. We will continue to negotiate with them as we work towards ensuring the ongoing provision of general practice services for the community."
