Security guard, patron assaulted - CBD

A man is due in court today charged after a security guard and a patron were allegedly assaulted at Darling Harbour this morning.

About 1.35am today (Saturday 12 December 2020), police were called to licensed premises in Darling Harbour following reports of a fight.

Police have been told a 39-year-old security guard and a member of the public, a 22-year-old man, were assaulted by a group of men.

The younger man was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital with facial and head injuries; the security guard was uninjured.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command attended and commenced inquiries.

A short time later, officers arrested a 22-year-old man on Kent Street before taking him to Surry Hills Police Station where he was charged with common assault, affray, and possess prohibited drug.

He has been refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 12 December 2020).

Inquiries are continuing.
